Autumn Starscapes: Exploring the Magnificent Fall Sky

Join us as we explore the stunning autumn night sky together. This presentation will introduce you to four prominent easy-to-locate constellations revealing their fascinating mythological stories while highlighting three stunning deep-sky objects found within them. Celebrating the Fall Harvest Moon we will also revel in the sight of Saturn slowly rising in the east. Whether you’re a seasoned stargazer, a curious newcomer, or someone who needs new stories to tell around the campfire, this presentation will deepen your appreciation for the wonders of the night sky. Don’t miss this end-of-summer cosmic connection!

Weather permitting, class participants will have the opportunity to join David at Salve on October 16 at 7 p.m. for an evening of night-sky exploration through telescopes. Additional details will be shared during class.

David A. Aguilar is an internationally recognized naturalist/astronomer, author, onscreen science contributor and space artist with the unique ability to open minds to the vast frontiers of space and their potential effects on our own world. He is the former director of science information at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics (CfA) in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and past director of marketing communications for Ball Aerospace in Boulder, Colorado. David has written and illustrated 12 award-winning children’s books for National Geographic, was a member of the NASA Pluto Encounter Mission, has consulted and appeared in the History Channel’s Universe series and has been honored with his own asteroid for achievements in furthering science education.
