Music Through the Ages: A Composer’s Perspective
Description
The complexities of classical music may seem elusive to the average listener; however, with proper insight and knowledge of the composer’s intentions, these intricacies are often better understood and appreciated.
We will review classical music from the 1700s to today, including works by Gluck, Beethoven, Chopin, Joplin, Debussy, Liszt, Grieg, Glier and Rachmaninoff. We will examine what makes these compositions so effective, looking at the "tricks of the trade" from a layperson's perspective. No prior knowledge of music theory is necessary.
